The big difference is the paper rolls.
Each
paper roll now comes with their own proprietary end caps
built in along with a computer chip (left). Previous
models including the 3000 versions used the same end cap
over and over. This computer chip is now read by the
machine from a sensor on the right side of the end cap
carriage (right). This set up requires the end user
to purchase their paper rolls ONLY from their
Varitronics® dealer.
Varitronics® calls this their Supply Recognition
Paper. We call it one expensive price to pay
for a paper roll.
